SADU ABOVE WATER

Sadu Above Water is a carpet collection based on the original art series by Kuwaiti artist Ibrahim Al Atiyah. The series blends traditional Sadu weaving patterns with Arabic calligraphy and contemporary visual expression, offering a profound reflection on Bedouin cultural identity. Through skilled craftsmanship, each piece was transformed into a textile medium—preserving the integrity, symbolism, and visual language of Al Atiyah’s original paintings.

Each carpet in Sadu Above Water serves as a visual meditation on belonging, heritage, and transformation. The textures mirror the movement of sand and water — natural elements that define the Kuwaiti landscape — while the flowing calligraphic lines convey the timeless poetry of the region’s artistic soul.

Through a delicate process of artistic translation, Al Atiyah’s paintings were reborn as woven textiles, maintaining every nuance of color, balance, and intention. Skilled artisans worked meticulously to capture the integrity and rhythm of his compositions, ensuring that each piece carries the emotional weight and symbolic harmony of the original works.

More than a design statement, the Sadu Above Water collection is a cultural bridge — a tribute to Kuwaiti artistry and the enduring legacy of Bedouin craftsmanship. It invites the observer to experience tradition not as a memory of the past, but as a living, evolving dialogue expressed through texture, tone, and design.

In every carpet lies a piece of Kuwait’s artistic heritage — reimagined for modern spaces, yet rooted in the timeless language of its people and their connection to the land.
